Gay Rights And Why Christians Are Hypocrites

First of all, let me just point out that I don't dislike Christianity at all. It just gets under my skin when Christians refuse to admit that they're a bunch of hypocrites in certain major areas. The biggest one I see these days is the issue of gay rights, which is something I support whole heartedly. I'm personally not gay, but I feel like if two people love each other, they should be able to get married. Now, let me explain why Christians are a bunch of hypocrites in this debate.

The major flaw in this debate is that Christians say that in the bible it defines marriage as "between a man and a woman" and it claims that homosexuality is wrong. I won't debate that, because the bible absolutely says that. What's wrong about using that to argue against gay marriage is that America was founded on the principals of separation of church and state, which means that religious doctrine shouldn't be allowed to dictate our laws. So that right there is a major flaw in the anti gay marriage argument.

Another major flaw is that Christians are unable to admit that they pick and choose what rules in the bible they actually follow and which ones they just ignore. There's not even an argument here to anybody who is honest (which is required by the bible, deception is the devil's work, so let's keep this honest shall we?). If your only argument against gay marriage is that the bible says it's wrong, that's okay, but you better also be following every other law in the bible, or you're a complete hypocrite. The bible also says that murder is wrong (Exodus 20:13), so anyone who goes to war deserves to be put to death (Leviticus 24:17, Exodus 21:12, Numbers 35:30, among others), because murder is wrong with zero exceptions. It also claims that getting tattoos is wrong (Leviticus 19:28), wearing clothes of mixed cloth is a sin (Leviticus 19:19), women speaking and teaching in church is a sin (1 Timothy 2:11-12), and if a girl is raped her rapist needs to pay the father and marry her (Deuteronomy 22:28-29), and if a woman is raped in a city then both her and her rapist shall be taken to the city gates and stoned to death (Deuteronomy 22:23-24). Now, obviously those are ridiculous rules by today's standards, but the point still stands that the bible says those are the rules. I don't know any church who follows any of those rules, yet they all claim that gay people can't get married because the bible says it's wrong.

So please, Christians, can you at least admit that you're hypocrites in this debate? Also, just let gay people get married, because lastly, it won't affect your life in any way. Just let them be and they'll let you be.
