On Running Out Of Ideas

As a creative person I always seem to be facing the fear of running out of ideas. I come to points where I think "what if I can't come up with any more ideas?".  Now, there are definitely times where I hit writer's block, but I still have yet to run out of ideas for more than a week or so. What I've found is that the more I trust in the unlimited creativity that exists in my head, the more I'm able to get into flow. So today I would like to talk about how to overcome writer's block and the fear of running out of ideas.
Whenever I find myself staring at a blank piece of paper, I've found that just writing is the best way. This might seem obvious and stupid, but try it sometime. Say you want to write a song, just start strumming some chords and hum a melody, it doesn't have to be good, just whatever comes to mind. Most times it'll start with something really simple and not very good, but the act of doing it starts to spark that creative center of your mind, which will then start to send you ideas on where to take this new song. If you want to write a story, just start typing whatever comes to mind. Start writing a jumbled outline, write some character names, anything at all.

Every day when I start writing these blogs, I don't know what I want to write about. I just accept that I don't know, and that's okay. I get out of my own way and type a title. Once I've come up with a title, I just start typing something about the topic I've chosen, and see what comes out. This is something that I will get better at as time goes on, and in the few days I've been doing this already I'm noticing that it's getting easier. You just have to trust that there is an unlimited river of creativity flowing through each of us, we just have to learn how to tap into it, and the more we do it the more our ideas will flow out into the world.
